Zenith and Felipe Pantone have teamed up once again for their latest collaboration, bringing a vibrant mix of colour and artistic flair to the brand’s collection. Pantone, known for his electrifying kinetic art that combines bold colours with geometric patterns, first partnered with Zenith in 2020, when he transformed the façade of their Le Locle-based manufacture with a specially designed tarpaulin.
Since then, this collaboration has blossomed, resulting in several unique watch projects. These include the limited-edition Defy 21 in 2021, a one-of-a-kind piece for Only Watch 2021, and the Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone in 2022. Their latest creation takes this partnership to new heights with a special edition of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon.
For this new watch, Zenith and Pantone have chosen the octagonal case of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon. Made from brushed and polished stainless steel, the 41mm barrel-shaped case features distinctive engravings on each corner that spell out “FPT1,” standing for Felipe Pantone Tourbillon #1.
Unlike previous editions, this model features an iridescent full dial (except for the tourbillon opening) that captures attention with its mesmerising effect. This is achieved using a sapphire disc with a mirrored back, micro-engraved patterns, and a vignette effect. The hands and markers, shaped like lightning bolts, are finished in a stunning gradient of rainbow tones.
At 6 o’clock, the dynamic one-minute tourbillon adds to the visual impact, with the tourbillon bridge also reimagined as a lightning bolt and finished in rainbow tones. This tourbillon regulates the El Primero 3630 high-frequency automatic movement, an in-house calibre with a 60-hour power reserve.
You can admire the movement through the caseback, which features a star-shaped oscillating weight with a rainbow PVD finish and sunray-patterned stripes radiating from the tourbillon.
