Drawing inspiration from the 1968 Memovox Polaris timepiece, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date watch in steel is equipped with a calendar and a cool style textured black rubber strap. This sporty yet deeply elegant timepiece offers such a fantastic look and harmonious design and it easily could be your favorite.
Amongst the new Polaris watches from Jaeger-LeCoultre, this is the model that sits right in the middle. It doesn't have a chronograph or mechanical alarm function which we have found in the Polaris Memovox, however this 42mm timepiece offers water-resistance to 200 meters.
The 13.1mm thick steel case comes with two crowns, the one at 2 o’clock is used to adjust the inner bezel, while that at 4 o’clock is used to adjust the time and wind the watch. With its steeply sloping lugs make it wearable and comfortable on the wrist.
The case for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date features a glass box where the crystal is raised from the case, evoking its vintage inspiration. Additionally, the case back is closed and features an engraving of a SCUBA diver, similar to the engraving that was found on the inner case back of the 1968 model.
Underneath the glass box sapphire crystal there is a black dial with luminescent numerals, markers, baton-style hands in a yellowish hue for a vintage touch, and of course the date window for practicality at 3 o’clock.
Powered by the automatic Calibre 899/1 with the power reserve of 38 hours, the Polaris Date is meant to be an everyday sports watch with old-school styling in modern proportions.
